Florida Populism: Ron Desantis Style Republicanism / Dennis Misigoy Libertarianism
A Brief Insight into the Roots of Ron Desantis Style Legislation and Why Dennis Misigoy, Libertarian Candidate For The U.S Senate, is a better choice for Liberty Minded Republicans.
Had the isidewith.com political quiz not been in existence, any information of Dennis Misigoy and his run against Marco Rubio would have either been missed entirely or significantly delayed ! For a basis for this article, and less cumbersome comprehension, an exposition of Ron Desantis will be presented, and the answer to, “It’s a waste of a vote for Misigoy” charge will be addressed, but in short, a vote for Misigoy is voting for a candidate who will legislate more so in accordance with Ron Paul and Desantis positions to a higher degree than that of Rubio.
However, a brief disclaimer is made herein that any views expressed are SOLELY that of The Florida Populist, and nowhere is it implied or inferred that such views are endorsed or agreed upon in any capacity by any member or body of any Republican Liberty or Freedom Caucus.
Florida Governor Ron Desantis’s world renowned status as a liberty minded politician in the wake of his response to pandemic mitigation has likely eclipsed his roots as a legislator in the United States House of Representatives for Florida’s 6th District from 2013-2018 in the 113th to 115th Congresses. To keep this article short, hyperlinks to the sources are in any words are underlined, and should be read.
FreedomWorks Legislators Congressional Scorecards will be used for this brief exposition, and it is important to note that the overall premise of Freedomworks is aligned, more so than less, with the Republican Liberty Caucus, which is important to distinguish from the conventional GOP Republican Legislators and politicians such as those conservatives who are aligned with the politics of , for a small example, the Bush family or a Mitt Romney. While it is important to digest the Liberty Caucus Statement of Principles & Positions, Wikipedia provides a succinct description of such:
The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) is a political action organization dedicated to promoting the ideals of individual liberty, limited government and free market economics within the Republican Party in the United States.[1] It is part of the libertarian wing of the Republican Party.[2] It also operates a political action committee, the RLC-USA PAC
Further, during his tenure as a Florida House Congressman in 2015, Ron Desantis was one of the founders of The House Freedom Caucus , which is more so than less aligned with RLC values , and is a congressional caucus composed of United States House Legislators. Therefore, Ron Desantis scorecard values on the Freedomworks site are a helpful tool in assessing how much he aligns with, “individual liberty, limited government and free market economics”. According to Freedomworks, Desantis legislation aligns an astounding 90% with their espoused values !
For context , it can be reasonably speculated that Ron Paul exemplified and may have pioneered 21st Century Libertarian Republicanism , and in such respect , it appears that Desantis has a significant edge even over that of Ron Paul, one of the most prominent figures of the Libertarian-Right side of the political spectrum !
For further understanding, it is strongly recommended that the reader set aside a few days or a few hours to answer every question on the political quiz at isidewith.com in order to accurately ascertain their political alignments. This quiz is comprehensive, is unlike many of the garden variety political quizzes on the web, and Desantis’s quiz results are linked here. Of note is that the Florida Populist appears to align 88% with Desantis’s position, which is an important segue into the positions of Dennis Misigoy and why liberty minded republicans should find him to be aligned with such values more so than that of Marco Rubio.
The Freedomworks score card of Marco Rubio demonstrates that the senator legislated in alignment with Freedomworks values in the early part of his tenure as a congressman, with such alignment significantly dwindling since, therefore calling into question certain (not all) endorsements by Donald J. Trump.
With The Florida Populist at a near 90% alignment with Desantis positions according to the isidewith quiz results , an an alignment with Rubio at 86%, and 87% for Misigoy is demonstrated. While not a huge difference, the ultimate charge of , “A vote For Misigoy is a vote for a democrat” premise is now ripe for consideration:
Considering Rubio’s dwindling voting record, and the lack of admonishment from the GOP, coupled with the absolute shunning of third party candidates (including Green Party and the like) , in primaries by the GOP and Democratic Party - maybe it’s time to send the GOP a message that liberty minded Republicans support candidates leaning more in favor of Desantis as the Freedom works results score Rubio at a “C-minus” type grade (75% and falling apparently) , as opposed to that of Desantis at 90% alignment.
Perhaps the GOP needs a “great reset” (don’t vomit) in favor of liberty and economic freedom principles if votes for Misigoy significantly take away votes from Rubio instead of opting for the status quo of GOP “reaching across the aisle” only to get their hands bitten by the radical left. The GOP and DNC BOTH need to be sent a message that we want at least one third party on the right and left side in primary debates and elections, and this message can be sent in the ballot box. The fact that Ron Paul was shut down by the GOP during his presidential run should be in the front of the minds of every liberty minded Republican, and a strong voter turnout for for Misigoy by registered R’s can send that message.
